Abstract

Telang Makmur Village, Muara Telang District, Banyuasin Regency, is a tidal lowland agricultural area whose irrigation system is influenced by river water level fluctuations. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the tidal irrigation system and to evaluate the capacity of secondary channels in accommodating flow discharge within the agricultural area. The research method includes field measurements of channel dimensions, flow velocity, and tidal water levels, as well as analysis of maximum daily rainfall data using the Normal, Log Pearson Type III, and Gumbel distribution methods. Hydraulic analysis was conducted by calculating flow discharge based on the wetted cross-sectional area and flow velocity. Based on the comparison between flow discharge and channel capacity, it is found that the capacity of the secondary channels is still able to accommodate the existing discharge and can therefore be categorized as adequate. However, field conditions such as vegetation growth (weeds) contribute to a reduction in effective discharge, resulting in suboptimal channel performance
