Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of adding microfiber fibers on the compressive strength and splitting tensile strength of concrete. Concrete is a construction material that has strength against compressive forces but is weak against tensile forces. The use of microfiber as an additional material aims to increase the tensile strength of concrete so that it can overcome this weakness. The research method used was experimental testing in a laboratory using cylindrical test specimens measuring 150 mm x 300 mm. The variations in microfibe addition used were 0kg/m3 , 0,1kg/m3 , 0,2kg/m3 , 0,3kg/m3 , 0,4kg/m3 of the concrete volume. Each variation consisted of three test specimens and was tested at 28 days of age. The results of this study show that the addition of micro fiber to the concrete mixture with a variation of 0,4kg/m3 obtained the highest compressive strength of 28,11 MPa. The splitting tensile strength with a variation of 0,4kg/m3 obtained an optimum value of 2.08 MPa. This study concludes that adding Microfiber to concrete mixtures can improve concrete performance when used in the right proportions.
