Abstract

Study aims to determine the effect of cow manure compost and P fertilizer doses on the growth and production of hybrid corn (Zea mays L.). This research was conducted at the corn research field in Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The research was conducted from November 2025 to March 2026. This research used a split plot design method, namely Split Plot, with 3 (three) combinations with 3 (three) replications. Thus, there were 27 experimental units. The tools used in this study included hoes, sickles, measuring tapes, digital scales, nameplates, ropes, watering cans, and sprayers. The materials used in this study included hybrid corn seeds of the 9209C variety, cow manure compost, rock phosphate fertilizer, urea fertilizer, and KCl. The main plot treatments were S1: 5 kg/plot, S2: 10 kg/plot, S3: 15 kg/plot, and subplots R1: 300 g/plot, R2: 600 g/plot, R3: 900 g/plot, with a planting distance of 60x20 cm. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, cob length, cob diameter, weight of 100 seeds, weight of shells per plot. The results of this study indicate that tabulated interaction of cow manure compost at a dose of 15 tons/ha with rock phosphate fertilizer at a dose of 900 kg/ha gave the highest results on the growth and production of hybrid corn with a production of 3.82 kg/plot equivalent to 7,640 tons/ha.
