Abstract
This research stems from the problem of low chili productivity in Pulau Negara Village, Ogan Ilir, which still heavily relies on traditional cultivation methods. Price fluctuations, pest attacks, and limited technological knowledge are the main factors hindering increased harvest yields. Precision agriculture is offered as a solution, utilizing technologies such as soil sensors, drones, automated irrigation systems, and data-driven fertilization to improve efficiency and production results. Agricultural extension plays a crucial role in introducing these innovations. Not only as a means of information transfer, extension also serves as a medium for learning, motivation, and guidance so that farmers have the interest and readiness to switch to modern technology. Internal factors (age, education, farming experience) and external factors (access to capital, institutional support, government policies) also influence farmers' decisions in adopting new technologies. The research method used is mixed methods with a design sequential explanatory. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires to 35 chili farmers, while qualitative data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. Analysis was conducted using Chi-Square tests, correlation, multiple linear regression, and triangulation to integrate quantitative and qualitative findings. The research results show that pprecision agriculture extension significantly influences farmers' interest in trying new technologies. Extension also increases farmers' desire to adopt precision technology sustainably. The most effective extension strategies are participatory approaches, field demonstrations, and intensive guidance tailored to local conditions. In conclusion, precision technology-based extension has proven capable of driving changes in the attitudes and behaviors of chili farmers towards more efficient and sustainable cultivation systems. This research provides recommendations for the government and extension agents to strengthen training programs, policy support, and financing access to accelerate the adoption of precision technology at the farmer level.
