Abstract
21st century skills are important skills that must be mastered by everyone to succeed in facing life's challenges and problems, one of which is critical thinking skills. The facts found that learning taking place at SMA Negeri 11 Palembang has not optimally supported the development of students' critical thinking skills. This is related to the teaching materials used, it was found that in the learning process it is still conventional, namely textbooks at 67%, the most dominant learning method used by teachers is assignments with a percentage of 56% and problem solving at 0%. The purpose of the study was to develop electronic LKM based on the PBL model with a STEAM approach to improve students' critical thinking skills. The research population was SMA Negeri 11 Palembang and the research sample was students in grades X.2 and X.5. The research method used 4D, namely define, design, develop and disseminate. Data collection techniques were carried out using interviews and questionnaires. The results define that teachers and students need electronic LKM on biotechnology material because it helps and makes it easier for students to improve critical thinking. The design results create critical thinking questions and electronic LKM design formats. The results of the development of the feasibility of the developed teaching materials from the language aspect are 87% (very good category), material 91% (very good category), media aspect 88% (very good category), learning device aspect 97% (very good category), and evaluation aspect 89% (very good category). 8 critical thinking questions are said to be valid with a reliability of 0.664 in the good category. Data analysis was the Normality test, Homogeneity test, Wilcoxon test, Mann Whitney test, Effect Size test and N-gain test. The results of the Wilcoxon disseminate test and the Mann Whitney test are that there is a difference between the results of students' critical thinking abilities in the pretest-posttest of the control class and the experimental class. The practicality of the teaching materials is categorized as practical by teachers with a percentage of 91% (very practical category) and the teaching materials can be read very well by students with a percentage of 81% (very strong category). Effect Size value is 0.761 (moderate criteria). The N-gain value in the control class was 0.33, a low criterion and the experimental class was 0.78, a high criterion.
