Abstract

PENURUNAN KADAR TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS (TDS) PADA LIMBAH CAIR INDUSTRI MENGGUNAKAN FILTER KERAMIK 2023 (Denta Rindawari, 2023, 24 Halaman, 4 Tabel, 4 Gambar) Limbah-limbah industri menjadi semakin bertambah seiring dengan pesatnya perkembangan industri, baik volume maupun jenisnya. Limbah industri khususnya limbah tambang, tekstil, dan lain-lain, merupakan salah satu penyebab masalah lingkungan akibat galian tambang dan buangan limbah tersebut yang mencemari lingkungan. Akibatnya beban pencemaran lingkungan semakin berat, sedangkan kemampuan alam untuk menerima beban limbah terbatas. Jenis limbah industri banyak macamnya, tergantung bahan baku dan proses yang digunakan masing-masing industri. Salah satu masalah yang paling mengganggu dari limbah industri tersebut adalah kandungan zat warna dan senyawa yang ada di limbah. TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) atau padatan terlarut adalah padatan-padatan yang mempunyai ukuran lebih kecil dari padatan tersuspensi jumlah TDS biasanya terdiri atas zat organik, garam organik, dan gas terlarut. Salah satu cara terbaik untuk membantu mengatasi pencemaran ini adalah dengan pemurnian air dibandingkan dengan beberapa proses pemurnian air dari logam berat, proses adsorpsi lebih efisien dan lebih murah dibandingkan dengan teknologi penyerapan logam berat lainnya. Penelitian ini membuat filter keramik dari bahan baku campuran tanah liat dan katalis bekas perengkahan dengan komposisi (70:30) berdasarkan variasi laju alir 7,8, 9 L/menit dan waktu kontak 15, 30, 45, 60 dan 75 menit. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, didapatkan pengaruh laju alir terhadap proses penyerapan kadar TDS efektif pada laju alir 8 L/menit (persentase penyerapan kadar TDS yang diperoleh sebesar 72,52 - 74,92%) dibandingkan dengan laju alir 7 L/menit (persentase penyerapan kadar TDS yang diperoleh sebesar 71,83 – 70,46 %) dan hasil yang paling rendah adalah pada laju alir 6 L/menit (persentase penyerapan kadar TDS sebesar 61,80 – 70,39%). Pengaruh waktu kontak terhadap proses penyerapan kadar TDS paling efektif menit ke-30 dan ke-45, sedangkan pada menit ke 60 dan ke 70 efektifitas penyerapan adsorben mengalami penurunan karena adsorben mengalami fase jenuh. ABSTRACT REDUCTION OF TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS (TDS) LEVELS IN INDUSTRIAL LIQUID WASTE USING CERAMIC FILTERS 2023 (Denta Rindawari, 2023, 24 Pages, 4 Tables, 4 Figures) Industrial waste is increasing in line with the rapid development of industry, both in volume and type. Industrial waste, especially mining waste, textiles, etc., is one of the causes of environmental problems due to mining excavations and waste disposal which pollute the environment. As a result, the burden of environmental pollution is increasingly heavy, while nature's ability to accept the burden of waste is limited. There are many types of industrial waste, depending on the raw materials and processes used by each industry. One of the most disturbing problems with industrial waste is the content of dyes and compounds in the waste. TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) or dissolved solids are solids that are smaller than suspended solids. The amount of TDS usually consists of organic substances, organic salts and dissolved gas. One of the best ways to help overcome this pollution is by purifying water. Compared to several water purification processes from heavy metals, the adsorption process is more efficient and cheaper than other heavy metal absorption technologies. This research makes ceramic filters from a mixture of clay and used cracking catalyst with a composition of (70:30) based on varying flow rates of 7.8, 9 L/minute and contact times of 15, 30, 45, 60 and 75 minutes. Based on research that has been carried out, it was found that the effect of flow rate on the absorption process of effective TDS levels was at a flow rate of 8 L/minute (the percentage of absorption of TDS levels obtained was 72.52 - 74.92%) compared to a flow rate of 7 L/minute (percentage The absorption of TDS levels obtained was 71.83 – 70.46%) and the lowest results were at a flow rate of 6 L/minute (percentage of absorption of TDS levels was 61.80 – 70.39%). The effect of contact time on the absorption process of TDS levels was most effective in the 30th and 45th minutes, while in the 60th and 70th minutes the effectiveness of adsorbent absorption decreased because the adsorbent experienced a saturation phase.
