Abstract

ABSTRACT Land occupies a very important role in a building construction. The function of soil as a building foundation must have stable soil conditions, if there are soil properties that are not able to support a building, it must be repaired first in order to achieve a more optimal carrying capacity. Soil stabilization in general is a process to improve soil properties by adding something to the soil, in order to increase soil strength and maintain shear strength. Therefore the purpose of soil stabilization is to bind and unite the existing material aggregates so as to form a solid road structure or road foundation. So the research added mixed ingredients in the form of palm shell waste ash and lime. From the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the addition of palm shell ash and lime cannot increase soil stability in terms of the free compressive strength test. Because the soil used is organic clay soil, which means organic clay soil is a type of clay soil that has a low carrying capacity and great swelling potential. So that the yield increase in the period without ripening is 12.5% with a qu of 0.98700 kg/cm2 and a cu of 0.4935 kg/cm2. While the results with a curing period of 7 days increased in native soil with qu 0.97814 kg/cm2 and cu 0.48907 kg/cm2. Keywords: Soil, Clay Soil Stability, Palm shell ash, Lime
