Abstract

Karya Jaya Village is located in the Kertapati District area, which is located approximately 14 km from the center of Palembang city. With a total area of approximately 2000 ha, most of the Karya Jaya Village is a swamp area which is located quite low between 0.5 – 4 meters above sea level. Rice cultivation is one of the livelihoods for resident in this sub district, although there are often obstacles in the implementation of farming. The goal to be achieved from this research is to optimiza the need for effective rainfed rice field water in Karya Jaya Village. Calculating water need starting from land processing, calculating paddy field water need, calculating paddy water avaibility using the F.J. Mock. For the water need of rainfed rice field twice the planting season with a land area of 751 ha in Karya Jaya Village cannot be fulfilled. This can be seen from the water balance calculation of the availability of paddy water with the rice field water needs for rice. Keywords: Rainfed Rice Fields, Effective Rainfall, FJ Mock.
