Abstract

Height measurements are useful for finding point elevations or height differences between points above the earth's surface which are indispensable for various kinds of work in civil engineering such as planning highways, airstrips, planning building construction, reservoirs, docks, planning drainage channels and other civil engineering work. In several research journals, the flat-fold method with a flat-folding plane (waterpass) and the trigonometric method with theodolite can produce almost the same level of height measurement accuracy in areas that have relatively flat elevations but waterpass has its own difficulties due to the limited range of vertical binoculars and requires a longer time when in hilly terrain. Height measurement at campus A of Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. The method used was polygon net height difference measurement with a closed ring using a DT-740 Theodolite and AT-28 Automatic Level Waterpass. Measurements were made five times with different loops but the base and end points were the same point and the measurements followed the standard rules in the SNI 19-6988-2004 document on vertical control nets. With the results of the measurement class and standard deviation, measurements using a waterpass fall into the 2nd order height measurement accuracy while the results of height measurements using a theodolite fall into the 4th order height measurement accuracy.
