Abstract

ABSTRACT Jalan Soekarno Hatta and Jalan Letjen Harun Sohar Kota Palembang are national roads and access is certain for various vehicles, ranging from private vehicles, heavy vehicles, and others. One of the factors causing accidents on Soekarno Hatta and Letjen Harun Sohar roads is the ratio of volume per road capacity. This study aims to determine the relationship pattern of volume per road capacity ratio to the number of traffic accidents on Soekarno Hatta and Letjen Harun Sohar roads in general terms, and based on their severity. The high number of accidents that occurred in the city of Palembang, especially on Jalan Soekarno Hatta and Jalan Letjen Harun Sohar which have moderate to severe accident categories (Palembang City Police Data), it is important for all groups to maintain aspects of traffic safety. Transportation systems need to be operated and designed with a good level of efficiency and safety in order to provide a sense of security and comfort for road users. The analysis was carried out by analyzing the relationship between volume per capacity ratio and traffic accidents in general, and according to the weight of traffic accident injuries. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between the volume capacity ratio and the number of traffic accidents. The relationship between accidents and the ratio of volume to capacity in general is 87,9% and 29,6% based on severity.
