Abstract

Serasan Jaya village road has land with low CBR value. This results in a high enough incidence that it can affect buildings above ground. For this reason, it needs improvement so that the soil is better by increasing the soil cbr value. To overcome this swelling and shrinkage event, it can be done by changing the gradation of soil grains or keeping the water content in the soil from changing. Soil Cbr value is very important to increase because the event of shrinkage in the soil will take place throughout the year along with changes in seasons. During the dry season, the soil will become very hard and during the rainy season it becomes very muddy, this can cause the road above it to be easily damaged. wood charcoal powder which is considered capable of increasing the value of soil cbr because it can reduce soil shrinkage. The effect of adding wood charcoal powder based on the CBR test results of soil that has not been mixed with wood charcoal powder, the CBR value is only 5.4. CBR value is found in mixed soil 5% wood charcoal powder of 6.6, in mixed soil 10% wood charcoal powder CBR value of 10.4. In mixed soil 15% of wood charcoal powder, the CBR value is 17.2. The addition of wood charcoal powder to the optimum soil CBR value at the addition of 15% variation can be seen from the test results where in the mixture of charcoal powder 20% the cbr value has decreased.
