Abstract

The marshall test is designed to measure the stability of a mixture of aggregate and asphalt relative to the melting (flow) of a mixture of asphalt and aggregate, Plastic fatigue is a state of change in the shape of the mixture that occurs due to a load to the limit of failure which is expressed in mm or 0.01. From the process of preparation of test specimens for inspection with the Marshall tool, the following data were obtained: stability value, volume weight, asphalt content, plastic fatigue (flow), VIM, VMA, asphalt absorption, asphalt layer thickness (asphalt film), effective asphalt content., Marshall's quotient (Marshall's coefficient). More and more plastics that are hard to break down need to be handled correctly. The use of Poly Ethylene (PE) plastic is often used for various kinds of packaging such as sugar packaging, shopping bags, mineral water packaging. In this study, researchers will use the types of HDPE, LDPE, and LLDPE as the addition of a mixture to each asphalt mixture as a modified asphalt. Based on the results and discussions that have been carried out, the Stability chart shows that HDPE plastic content has the highest stability value compared to LDPE and LLDPE plastic levels, but on the VIM chart HDPE plastic does not meet the Bina Marga Revision III specification standard, But the LDPE and LLDPE plastics meet the standard requirements of BinaMarga Revision III at a level of 2.5%. The addition of each type of plastic shows the difference in the flow value for each plastic content. In the case of HDPE plastic, the higher the mixing content, the lower the flow value obtained. For LDPE plastic, the higher the mixture content, the lower the flow value produced. For LLDPE plastics, the higher the mixture content, the higher the flow value produced.
