Abstract

ABSTRACT Palembang city is the capital city of South Sumatra province which has several watersheds (DAS), one of which is the Sekanak River. which is located at 22 Ilir, Kec. Small hill. With a watershed length of 11.7 km. However, there are several problems in the Sekanak River watershed, including the smell and accumulation of sediment. It is feared that this could lead to silting of the river. The purpose of this research is to know and understand sediment transport in the Sekanak River, Palembang City. The purpose of this study was to calculate the volume of sediment contained in the Sekanak River with the approach of Shear Stress (Duboy's Method and Shield's Method). And calculate the volume of sediment for the next one year period on the Sekanak River. With the Duboy's Method and the Shield's Method, the average value of the sediment transport discharge of the Duboy's Method = 10,495.7 (lb/yr)/ft, and the Shield's Method = 4,064.6(lb/yr)/ft. Thus the dredging of sediment for the next 1 year has different results because it depends on what method is used. Keywords: Sekanak Palembang River, Sediment, Duboy's Method, Shield's Method
