Abstract

High-rise buildings require additional reinforcement to withstand the working earthquake forces, for example by adding a shear wall structure. This study aims to compare the behavior of building structures without and with reinforced concrete shear walls. In the modeling of the six-story building, two models were made. M1 is a Frame Model with Reinforced Concrete Shear Walls, namely a frame structure with reinforced concrete shear walls added. M2 is an open frame model, namely a structural model with shear walls. The stages in analysis and modeling include literature study followed by data collection of the existing building, then continued by modeling the building without and with shear walls using the student version of SAP 2000 in accordance with the references of SNI 1726:2019 and SNI 1727:2020. After that, dynamic control is carried out, which can then be concluded that the building is more effective without or with shear walls. Based on the results of the analysis, it is obtained that the frame structure with shear walls produces a deviation between floors at a relatively smaller number when compared to the frame structure modeled without shear walls. This is because the stiffness of the frame structure with shear wall modeling is greater than the stiffness of the frame structure without shear walls. The value of the deviation between floors without and with shear walls in the x and y directions, the frame structure with shear walls produces the largest deviation at a relatively smaller number, which is 21.50 mm when compared to the frame structure modeled without shear walls, which is 36.00 mm.
