Abstract

This study aimed to determine the best dose of jengkol skin fertilizer and NPK on the growth and production of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) on alluvial soil types. This research was conducted in July – October 2021 in Sidorahayu Village, Belitang District, East OKU Regency, South Sumatra Province. This study used a factorial randomized block design with 9 treatment combinations repeated 3 times to obtain 27 plots, each plot measuring 2.5 x 2.5 m with a distance between plots of 50 cm and a distance between replications of 100 cm. The dosage treatments used were jengkol skin compost J1 (3.125 kg/plot), J2 (6.25 kg/plot), J3 (9.375 kg/plot), and a dose of NPK fertilizer 700 kg/ha N1 (25% fertilizer dose = 175 kg/ha = 109 grams/plot), N2 (50% fertilizer dose = 350 kg/ha = 218 grams/plot), N3 (75% fertilizer dose = 525 kg/ha = 328 grams/plot). The variables observed in this study were plant height (cm), number of productive branches, number of fruit per plant, fruit weight per plant (grams), fruit weight per fruit (kg). The results of the variation of treatment combinations showed that the dose of organic jengkol peel fertilizer at a dose of 5 tons/ha and NPK treatment at a dose of 525 kg/ha gave the best effect on the growth and production of cayenne pepper plants with a production of 1600 g/plot equivalent to 0.66 tons/ha.
