Abstract

ABSTRACK ​Surya Akbar Tanjung Barangan Housing is one of the areas where most of the people still use groundwater as a source of daily needs. Some people have used artesian wells or drilled wells, but if we look at the cost of making it is very expensive. If more groundwater is used from the drilling system, it will have an impact on land subsidence. With this condition, to overcome the problem of the need for clean water and lack of water for people's lives, it requires a system that is more effective and efficient. One of the processes is to create a rainwater harvesting system from residential roofs by maximizing high rainfall. The survey area shows that the Surya Akbar Tanjung Barangan housing area is in good and habitable condition, the dominant roof is made of zinc, so this condition will be maximized when harvesting rainwater, resulting in the following water requirements. ​Surya Akbar Tanjung Barangan Housing is located on Jalan Tanjung Barangan, Bukit Baru Village, Ilir Barat I District, Palembang City, South Sumatra. Consisting of 362 housing units divided into 13 blocks, 104 inhabited housing units totaling 247 people and 258 uninhabited housing units, with a water requirement of 120 liters/person/day and a roof area of 64 m², with data that has been obtained and calculated in chapter 4, the need for clean water can be sufficient for a house inhabiting 1 to 3 people, while for a total of 4 to 6 people it is not sufficient.
