Abstract

ABSTRACT Roads play an important role in life. to improve the quality of the existing asphalt is to modify the physical and chemical properties of asphalt with various added materials in order to obtain asphalt quality. Research on the use of rubber powder in the mixture of AC-WC pavement layers is an effort to increase resistance to reduce the occurrence of cracks in the AC-WC pavement layer due to the influence of excessive traffic load (overload), temperature and weather. In this case, the researcher conducted a test to determine whether there was a difference in the value of the Marshall characteristics on the AC-WC pavement layer using rubber powder. The results of the calculations obtained that the addition of rubber content in the AC-WC Aus layer affects the value of the Marshall characteristics. The most effective addition was at a level of 2%, because at that time the value of marshall stability increased by a value of 288.13 kg in a 5.6% asphalt variation compared to stability without added materials with a value of 255.14 kg in a 5.6 asphalt content variation. %. Marshall characteristic values that meet the General Specifications of Bina Marga Division 6 2010 Asphalt Pavement. The percentage of rubber powder is 2% with asphalt variation of 5.6% with VMA value of 16.00%, VIM of 4.99%, VFA of 68.81%, Flow of 2.97mm, and MQ of 288.13 kg/ mm
