Abstract

Highway density that is not balanced with driving knowledge can cause accidents. However, road accidents are not only caused by a lack of knowledge of drivers in driving, but also due to poor road conditions. Road damage that occurs will certainly affect the safety and comfort of road users. Therefore, the handling of pavement construction whether it is maintenance, improvement or rehabilitation can be carried out optimally if the factors that cause damage to the road segment are known. In general, road damage can be caused by the design age of the road that has been passed, puddles of water on the road surface that cannot flow due to poor drainage, excessive traffic loads (overloaded) which causes the service life of the road to be shorter than planned. Based on observations and results of research analysis, on the Lubuklinggau North Axis Ring Road, the highest LHR level on Sriwijaya Road (North Ring) Lubuklinggau City was on Saturday as many as 3,626 vehicles. each layer of pavement is Top Layer 7.5 cm, Foundation Layer is 20 cm, Aggregate A is 15 cm and the dominant type of damage is Perforated with a total of 381 M2 with a percentage value of 3.967% caused by traffic loads that erode small parts of the pavement surface so that water enters the hole. The solution from the researcher is, It is necessary to handle road damage to reduce the accident rate and provide a sense of security and comfort for road users, If the damage that occurs in the field is repaired by related parties, several damage repair actions, both in the form of routine maintenance carried out every year as well as periodic maintenance which is usually carried out every 2 or 3 years, it is advisable to add a pavement (overlay) of at least 4-5 cm so that the maximum load capacity of the road can be increased.
