Abstract

ABSTRACT The layer of asphalt concrete-wearing course (AC-WC) is a pavement structure which connected directly with the wheel, watertight layer, weather resistant, and have a particular abrasiveness which is coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, and filler can be gain from the result of natural or made of splitting. One of the natural wastes that can be found and can be used easily is the shell waste that can be used as a replacement for the filler in the mixture of AC-WC. The aim for this research is to find out about the effect of the clam shell waste as the substitute of the filler in the laston mixture (AC-WC) for road pavement on the characteristic value of Marshall. This research uses marshall experimental and testing methods wit experiments and comparisons according to the levels of concrete waste variations as a substitute for filler 2,5%, 3,5%, 4%, 4,5% and 5% and variations 5%, 5,5%, 6%, 6,5% according to the Bina Marga Specification (2010) revision 3. After that the test was done against the testing material with the Marshall test to get the Marshall characteristic in that mixture. The result of this test is that the Marshall characteristic with the 5,75% of optimum asphalt content use optimum clam shell waste content for 3% which have positive effect on Marshall characteristic value. Keywords : Pavement Layer asphalt concrete – wearing course, Clam shell waste, Marshall Characteristic, filler
