Abstract

ABSTRACT Upang delta village is a village in Makarti Jaya District, Banyuasin Regency where most of the residents work as farmers. The problem that is often faced in the irrigation area of delta upang is the location of the rice fields that are far from the source of water intake, causing the distribution of water to the rice fields to be hampered and reduced. Therefore, to find out the amount of water needed for irrigation in the Upang delta village, it is necessary to carry out an analysis. This study uses two methods, namely the manual method of the irrigation concept KP-01 to calculate water requirements and the mock FJ method to calculate water availability. After obtaining both values, the balance between water demand and water availability is calculated. The cropping pattern applied in the Upang delta village is fallow rice starting from November to March. The calculation of the need and availability of irrigation water in the Upang delta village with a land area of 600 ha, it is 1.37 m3/sec. while the availability of water is 2.70 m3/s. Based on the calculation of the balance between water demand and water availability, it was found that the amount of water demand increased during the land cultivation period, namely in November period I and II respectively by 0.47 m³/sec. While the availability of water has decreased by 0.29 m³/s, this is what causes a shortage during the land preparation period of 0.18 m3/s.
