Abstract

Prabumulih City is one of the cities located in South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. Geographically the city is located between 3°20'09.1" – 3°34'24.7" South Latitude and 104°07' 50.4" – 104°19'41.6" East Longitude, with an area of 434.50 km², has a population of ± 200,000 inhabitants (2019) with an area of 435.10 km² and is one of the administrative cities in South Sumatra. Administratively Prabumulih has 6 sub-districts, 37 ward and 12 villages. Prabumulih city is a swampy area and large and small rivers such as lematang river, kelekar river, and others. This research was conducted in the area of Prabumulih City. The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of rainfall, which are in accordance with the rain data in Prabumulih City. The purpose of this study was to determine the analysis of rainfall intensity using the van breen method to obtain the intensity-duration-frequency (IDF). From the calculation of rainfall using the van breen method, the maximum value is 171.477856 mm with a duration of 5 minutes and a return period of 100 years which is categorized as very heavy rain. The IDF curve that is drawn/formed from the calculation results has a relationship between variable X (duration) and variable Y (intensity) in the form of a negative relationship, this is indicated by the slope value of the curve. The relationship between variables X and Y is said to be negative if changes that occur from variable x will result in a change in the opposite variable Y, meaning that the longer the duration of the rain, the smaller the value of the intensity of the rain that occurs.
