Abstract

ABSTRACT This study the authors took Fly Ash and Polycarboxylate as an additive to the concrete mixture. In this study, will identify the effect of Fly Ash and Polycarboxylate as a material to add to the mixture in concrete. The purpose of this study was to determine the value of the compressive strength of concrete from the use of Fly Ash and Polycarboxylate as additives to the compressive strength of concrete. The percentage of Fly Ash and Polycarboxylate used varies, from 5% Fly Ash and 1%, 1.5%, 2%, 2.5%, 3%, 3.5% and 4% Polycarboxylate. Concrete testing will be carried out after the concrete is 1 day, 2 days, 3 days and 28 days old. This study used a cube-shaped specimen with a size (15 cm X 15 cm X 15 cm) and a total of 96 specimens where for each variation there were 3 specimens. From laboratory research, it was found that the compressive strength of concrete at the age of 1 day with Normal Concrete + Fly Ash conditions 5% was 189.36 Kg/Cm², at the age of 1 day of concrete, the highest value of compressive strength was in Normal Concrete + 5% Fly Ash + Polycarboxylate 3 % of 353.42 Kg/Cm² with a percentage increase of 86.64% against Normal Concrete + Fly Ash 5%. After conducting the research, it can be concluded that the addition of 5% Fly Ash + Polycarboxylate 1-4% can increase the compressive strength of concrete. Keywords: Fly Ash, Polycarboxylate, Concrete Compressive Strength
