Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out what local wisdoms are still maintained and that have existed in lowland rice cultivation, to determine the amount of rice production obtained by farmers. This research was conducted in Serdang Menang Village, Sirah Pulau Padang District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency from September to November 2020. The research method used was a survey. The sampling method used was simple random sampling and purposive sampling. The data collection methods used in this study were observation, interviews and documentation. Data processing methods in this study using qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. The results of this study indicate that local wisdom that is still maintained by farmers in lowland rice cultivation during planting preparation is Ngokot or land clearing. At the time of planting, namely the use of local seeds, how to soak the seeds, Ngeluntam or seeding, Nanjar or transferring Mulan to the fields, and how to plant rice. When maintaining rice, namely controlling pests and diseases using natural ingredients. And at harvest time, namely determining the day of harvest, providing offerings, cutting rice stalks using a sickle or sickle, rice heaping, threshing rice using gebotan, cleaning rice and drying rice. The production yields obtained by farmers in one harvest by applying local wisdom in lowland rice cultivation is 4,439 Kg/Ha.
