Abstract

MUHAMMAD AGAM JAYA Effect of Lateral Branch Pruning and Use of Organic Fertilizer (Vermicompost) on Growth and Production of Long Beans (Vigna Sinensis L.). (Supervised by ERNI HAWAYANTI and IIN SITI AMINAH) The purpose of this study was to determine and obtain the best amount of left lateral branches and vermicompost to produce the best long bean (Vigna sinensis L.) production. This research has been carried out in a farmer's land located on Sukarela street, Kebun Bunga Village, Kec. Sukarami, Km 7 Palembang South Sumatra. This research was conducted from June to August 2020. The method of implementing this research used a randomized block design (Factorial RAK). With 2 treatments, 1. Lateral branch heating, 2. Vermicompost fertilizer dosage. Which was repeated 3 times and 6 samples from each treatment. The plot under study includes pruning lateral branches (P) which consists of P0 = no pruning branches, P1 = pruning all lateral branches (0 branches), P2 = pruning leaving 2 lateral branches. The dosage of Vermicompost (V) consists of V1 = 4 ton / ha (2.4 kg per hectare), V2 = 8 ton / ha (4.8 kg /pound), V3 = 12 ton / ha (7.2 kg/swath). The variables observed in this study were plant height (cm), number of pods (fruit), Pod length (cm), length of pods (cm), weight of pods per plant (G), weight of pods per plot (Kg). The results of the analysis of diversity show that the treatment interaction without pruning branches and applying Vermicompost fertilizer at a rate of 12 ton/ ha (7.2 Kg / plot) gave the best production on long bean plants with a value of 2.71 Kg / plot, equivalent to 4.5 ton/ ha.
