Not all soil has a good bearing capacity, and is suitable for use as a construction base material. Clay soil is a type of soil that has a low bearing capacity. The function of the land as a building foundation requires stable soil conditions. Therefore, the soil needs a special treatment to improve the unfavorable properties of the soil by means of stabilization. Stabilization is an action taken to improve the technical properties of the soil. One of the other alternatives for clay soil stabilization is to add ceramic waste to the soil. Ceramic waste contains silica which is expected to function as a binder (binder) in the soil, because this silica produces a reaction that can increase soil strength. The ceramic waste in question is pieces or fragments of floor tiles which are then crushed until they pass the No.200 filter. The test to be carried out is the free compressive strength test. The variations of the ceramic waste mixture used were 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% of the dry soil weight with a curing time of 0 days, 3 days, 5 days and 7 days. The research also shows that the value of free compressive strength continues to increase until the highest limit occurs in LK ability of 5%, namely 1.438 kg / cm2 with an increase in percentage of 162.40%, then the value of free compressive strength has decreased in the addition of variations of 10% -15% , the increase in the value of free compressive strength was also influenced by the treatment period, the largest value of compressive strength occurred in the treatment period of 7 days.
