Abstract

ABSTRACT Buildings are vertical buildings made by humans to support activities, both as workplaces (offices), education (schools or colleges), sports and recreation facilities, and other facilities according to human needs themselves. Beams and columns are the main structural components whose role is to support the loads on a building structure, the beam functions as a horizontal reinforcement frame while the column functions to support the vertical compressive axial load. The results of planning a four-story office building from several planned variations obtained a total area of net concrete namely variation 1 of 16074.91 cm², variation 2 of 10062.24 cm², variation 3 amounted to 7736.23 cm² and variation 4 experienced structural failure. From these results it can be concluded that the safe and economical variation of beams and columns is variation 3 where the dimensions are B1 (20 cm x 40 cm), B2 (15 cm x 25 cm), K1 (50 cm x 50 cm), K2 (45 cm x 45 cm), K3 (35 cm x 35 cm), K4 (30 cm x 30 cm). Keywords: Buildings, beams and columns, results of planning
